Book Reviews
As book publishers, we are also book readers; always have been and always will be. DJ's mantra is "So many books, so little time." DJ's always reading at least three or four books at a time, depending on her mood and what she's interested in reading at any given moment.
Book Reviews Rating System
DJ never goes anywhere in the car without a bag of current reading materials. It is a serious addiction, but a healthy one, she thinks. So, it makes perfect sense for her to share what she's read with all of you.
DJ reads a wide variety of books, so they're identified by the following: C (Children), JFic (pre- and early teen), YA (Young Adult), A (Adult)
DJ's ratings follow our own rating system which is as follows:
- 1 star β = This book was not for me.
- 2 stars β β = OK, but not one of my favorites.
- 3 stars β β β = A good book.
- 4 stars β β β β = A great book that's worth reading!
- 5 stars β β β β β = An excellent book! A must-read!
Everyone likes an adventure story, right? Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo certainly falls into that category. It is also an adventure that takes place in a fantasy world. Know any other stores that are adventures in a fantasy world with a teen-aged boy, living with a family that treats him only with disdain, as the main character? And, oh yea, the boy has magical powers, too. The Harry Potter series set the bar that all future adventure/fantasy world books are now measured by. And this book is just the first in the series - I found six books with the Leven Thumps character in the world of Foo.
The Meaning of Life by Bradley Trevor Greive is a wonderful little book.
I love this book. Although it can be read in about Β½ hour (or less), it is full of some of the best animal photos I've ever seen.
Since Iβve never read any of the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys series of books when I was growing up, I thought it was a good idea to read at least one of them and give my personal review of it. In my forever search for new (and hopefully free) books, I happened to find a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys book called, βProcess of Elimination.β But first, a little background on the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys.
